    If this comes through, Instagram users would be able to search for products and make purchases directly in the app -according to The Verge reports.

    It’s been more than a year since Instagram opened up shoppable organic posts to apparel, jewelry and beauty brands.

    Also In June, Instagram offered a shopping bag icon to a select number of retailers, allowing them to add an e-commerce element within their Stories. 

    And as such, Instagram already has a sufficient number of retailers and advertisers already pushing products on the platform. So it may happen sooner than expected.

    This new feature is similar to how Google search works, but now shows directly in the Google Chrome latest version that was released on Tuesday September 4, 2018.

    According to new survey data from the Pew Research Center (June 2018), 42% Facebook users have stepped back from daily activity and engagement.

    This stands in marked contrast to a March 2018 Pew survey that found 74% of Facebook users visited daily while 51% visited multiple times a day.

    To corroborate this sharp decline in usage and engagement revealed by Pew Survey, Facebook’s Q2 results shows that its daily active user metrics were flat in North America and declined in Europe.

    Facebook is testing a new way to get more users to become Facebook friends. To do so, the company is adding a “Things in Common” label above comments on business, brand and media Page posts from users who are not Friends, but may share common interests and experiences.

    Uberall released data from their new “Near Me Shopping Report” that consisted of responses from more than 1,000 smartphone owners in the US.  

    The report shows that 69 percent of smartphone owners use their devices to help them shop -82 percent of them had done “near me” searches before.

    What is the catch?

    While Google previously said at different points that “local intent” search constitutes 30, 40 and even 50 percent of mobile queries.

    Uberall “Near Me Shopping Report” further confirms that online shoppers trust search results to direct them to where to buy near them.  

    What should you do?

    Create ‘near me’ posts (and possibly pages) for your eCommerce site, local business, consultancy service or any location-based venture at all.  

    Optimize the posts for search, because 90% of searchers click the first 3 results.

    Podcasting Experiences Meteoric rise as Listeners Increase by 23% While Revenue by 86%.

    Nielsen Fanlinks 2018 Q3 survey reported that “avid” podcast fans rose from 13 million homes in 2016 to 16 million in 2017 — a 23 percent increase.

    While an Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) survey earlier this year found that podcast revenues topped $314 million in 2017, an 86 percent increase from 2016.

    With a growing number of households tuning in to podcasts on all types of subjects in every imaginable genre, there is ripe opportunity for marketers to engage a captive audience. 

    Nielsen Fanlinks 2018 Q3 survey also ties users’ podcast genre and content preferences to their purchasing behaviors. 

    For instance, some of the thirty-seven million avid fans of music podcasts in the US happen to index higher for purchases of beer, liquor, pet care, tea and baby food products.

    Google Ads Introduces ‘ad strength’ Indicator & Reporting for Responsive Search Ads.

    The new Ad strength measures relevance, quantity and diversity of the Ad copy in responsive search ads.  The indicator ranges from “Poor” to “Excellent” and provides suggestions such as “Add more headlines.”

    What is the catch?

    Google want advertisers to have at least three ads per ad group and responsive search ads are aimed at helping advertisers meet that goal. So, more Ad copies with an Ad group should drive more impressions and clicks for an ad group overall.

    Starting in early September, Ad strength will be available as a column in Google Adwords interface.  It will show up in the Ad creation interface for responsive search ads over the next few weeks.

    What should you do?

    For your next Google Ads campaigns, ensure every Ad group has at least three ads which includes a responsive search ad.  Responsive search ads should have at least 5 headlines.

    Google+ Communities, LinkedIn groups, Facebook groups, Niche forums in your industry too are great for finding keyword ideas you can further refine and create content for.

    The good news about getting keywords from these sources is that you have audience for such topic ideas and you know people are already searching for what you are about to create.
